Antiqued Copper Electroformed Mallard Feather Necklace
I love to make feather necklaces, especially COPPER feather necklaces. I love the antique copper finish that was created here, and you'll love it too. This mallard feather comes from my mothers farm in Northern Wisconsin and it was transformed into this handcrafted necklace in Asheville, North Carolina.
Necklace is 4.0” in height x 1.25" wide and comes on a 31" soldered copper chain.
The scientific and intricate process used to add layers of lovely copper is called electroforming. This process can be unpredictable and can take hours to days to complete just one wearable. There may be small perfect imperfections in the copper and it may darken over time. Each piece has been cleansed and sealed with you in mind.

Do you have an item that carries special meaning or holds a memory but it's just sitting on a shelf or in a drawer? We can create a custom necklace, bracelet, earrings or ring out of your item so you can carry it with you always. It can be made from any material; plastic to organic. We have crafted rings and earrings from stone, bones and even teeth. Necklaces can be crafted from shells, flowers, stones, you name it!
Pure copper changes color when exposed to air, elements, moisture and oils from your skin (think Statue of Liberty). This is called oxidation. Your skin may turn a green hue due to your own body chemistry. All copper pieces have sealed with Protectaclear to slow this process. Your item may require additional sealant if worn often to avoid oxidation (or if you love it like I do, let it go!) The more you wear a ring the shinier it becomes.
Most find it a favorable trait (greening) as copper has healing properties. From time to time you can use wax or nail polish to guard off oxidation. Polishing copper jewelry (including chain) is as easy as finding an acidic item (lemon juice, vinegar) in the kitchen or simply using a polishing cloth.
We will do our best to get your item out in 1-5 days. We typically attend art festivals on the weekends so if purchased Friday-Sunday, your item will be shipped Monday.

Generally you would go up 1/4 size for rings 5-6mm (0.19”-0.25”) wide and 1/2 size for rings 7-8mm (0.27”-0.31”) wide. This is because a wide band allows more space under the band for the finger than narrow rings do. Add an allowance of 0.25 to 0.5 size for rings with wider styles.
Finger sizes are prone to change with temperature, humidity, exercise, what you have been eating, time of day, time of the month, pregnancy and other factors. Your right hand is usually 0.5 size larger, so if you are right handed and have a size 7 ring that fits the left hand it is reasonable to think that a 7.5 will fit the right hand, but again this varies depending on the person. If you’re interested in one of our rings & it isn’t your size send us a convo.
Some stones we have mined ourselves or have found ourselves. Other stones we have purchased from select sellers from gem & mineral shows. We also love to support other Rockhounds, we purchase stones they’ve collected. All items are ethically and sustainably sourced.
